• THE SELECTION AND APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Signed contract with the terms of participation must be sent with the application. By having a capacity for few participants (from 2 to 4 persons), from Sinopia we will make a selection of the candidate artists who will participate in the program. Candidates will receive an answer within a week from the last day of submission of applications.

• PARTICIPATION COST REFUND POLICY

(RESERVATION AND CANCELLATION POLICY)

•There are no restrictions for check in. The arrival time can be at any time, as long as you inform the Sinopia staff first.

• Once we approve your application, we require a 30% deposit and/or payment in full before we reserve the space for you and confirm your stay.

• Your reservation is complete when you receive a confirmation email from us. The approval of your request and the confirmation of your reservation implies full acceptance of the Reservation and Cancellation Policy and the signing of the contract. The contract with the conditions of the stay will be sent by us and after being signed by the participant, he will send it back to us.

• All prices and payments are in euros. The 30% deposit can be sent via Paypal, bank deposit or credit card. In the event that the deposit is not received within the specified time frame, we reserve the right to cancel your reservation. All payment processing fees and charges, as well as currency conversion charges, if applicable, are payable by the guest in addition to the total amount of the selected package. The balance must be paid on arrival and can be paid by Paypal, bank deposit, credit card or cash. Taxes are included in the price. 

• The cancellation of a reservation will only be effective when we receive a written confirmation of the cancellation. If a written cancellation is received 15 days prior to your arrival, your deposit will be refunded 50% plus an administrative fee of 30€. Unless you wish to reschedule your stay within a year of your original reservation (subject to availability).

• THE COST OF RESINDECY

The cost amounts to 470€ (taxes are included) for 7 days of accommodation and use of the studio. The price includes a day trip to Nafplio and the ancient Theater of Epidaurus as well as.

For each additional week, a 10% discount on the initial fee.

For the participants of the Residency program to attend and create projects related to the topic of the workshops are FREE.

• WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE PARTICIPATION FEE?

The amount paid by each participant includes accommodation in a residence that can accommodate two of them. Each participant has his own room and shares the bathroom, living room and kitchen.

It also shares the Art Studio of Sinopia which can be used on a 24h, as well as the internet and the equipment.

The cost include as well: One day trip to Nafplion city, to Archeological Site of Mycenae and to the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus with the possibility to watching theatrical performance during the Athens Epidaurus Festival (follow the program: https://aefestival.gr/ancient-theatre-of-epidaurus-artistic-programme-2023/?lang=en).

Meals, entrance tickets to the archaeological sites (archaeological site of Epidaurus) and the ticket for the theater performance are not included.

• HEALTH SUBJECT (CARE)

The Sinopia Cultural Center does not have the possibility to cover the health insurance of its participants beyond immediate transport to a public first aid station located in Ermioni or Kranidi (Health Center) or transport to a larger unit in Nafplion or Athens.

For the above reason, our visitors should have taken care of their insurance already in their country, before visiting Greece. For EU citizens there is the possibility of having the European Health Insurance Card, which is provided by your country and is valid in Greece.

• HYGIENE

Accommodations and Art Studio are professionally cleaned weekly and before the arrival of visitors. 

 

• DESCRIPTION OF ACCOMONTATIONS

The accommodations are in modern residences that provide all the comforts necessary. The residences as well as the Art Studio provide free wifi, a satisfactory connection for professional use. In the Art Studio there is the possibility of using permanent equipment (for its use there is an analysis in the residence contract). Each guest has his own room and shares the bathroom and living room kitchen. The kitchen of each residence is fully equipped with all the necessary appliances, as well as each bathroom has hot water and a washing machine. The rooms are comfortable and bright.

 

• DESCRIPTION OF THE ART STUDIO

The Art Studio is located at a very close distance from the residences and within the town It is a comfortable space ideal for small groups of artists.

During the summer months the artists can work in the fenced outdoor area (1200 m²) overlooking the town of Ermioni. There is a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom so that the artist can work recklessly.

 

• REQUIREMENTS TO THE PARTICIPANTS

Our guests are obliged to maintain the rules of good cohabitation and neighborliness.

- The observance of the common quiet time (midday and night quiet times are as follows: During the summer period from 15:00 to 17:30 and from 23:00 to 07:00. During the winter period from 15:30 to 17 :30 and from 22:00 to 07:30). The above schedule applies to residences and not to the Art Studio (inside due to good sound insulation).

- Unfortunately, parties are not allowed inside the residences, but inside the Art Studio be allowed.

- To keep the common areas clean.

- The use of the Art Studio equipment should be done with care based on the operating hours of each machine in order to avoid its destruction.

- To take care of the safety of the residence, the Art Studio and to lock the bicycle after using it. Ermioni, like the surrounding area, is very safe, but during the summer months its population increases (due to tourism) and there are many passing visitors, with the result that micro-theft of things is possible.

• ABOUT THE NEEDS OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES

The residences do not have the possibility of accommodating guests who may have a mobility problem. There are steps (outside entrance) and inside the complex there are narrow corridors.

  

• THERE IS FUNDING FOR THE PARTISIPANTS?

The Sinopia Cultural Center is currently unable to offer funds for an artist to attend the program. However, we are systematically working to find a way of financing.

The Center will be able to help with the written acceptance of the artist so that he can claim funds for the expenses of his trip and stay in Greece.

 

• MOVEMENTS

The travel costs from Athens to Ermioni and vice versa are borne by our visitors. We will welcome him to Ermioni, provided they have informed us of their arrival time.

• WHEN SHOULD THE PARTISIPANTS COME TO GREECE?

It will be a great opportunity, coming to Greece, for our visitors to make a stop in Athens. In the city they will be able to visit a wide range of cultural places and more. There is no time limit on check-in and check-out so that our visitors have the opportunity to better manage their time in the country.

 

• WiFi CONNECTION 

There is a Wifi connection in the residences as well as in the Art Studio. The connection is satisfactory to work from home or from the Studio.

• STUDIO MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT

In the Art Studio there is a computer, a printer, a wide range of tools for all types of work and a workbench for each participant separately, with no cost to the participant. In the Art Studio the participants will find a bicycle for their daily movements and of course its use is free.

• ARE PETS ALLOWED­?

Unfortunately, four-legged friends are not allowed to stay. We try to protect the premises from possible cases of allergies that can be caused by pets.

• ACCOMMODATION BY A FAMILY WITH CHILDREN

Families with children (up to four) are allowed to stay and use the Art Studio. The cost of accommodation is borne by the two persons. Children must be aged 3 and over, there is no equipment for infants.

 

• THE WEATHER IN ERMIONI

Ermioni is a seaside place and is located in the Peloponnese which is part of Greece so the weather is very mild all year round. Rains are a rare phenomenon as is extreme cold. During the summer months the upper temperature reaches an average of 30 - 35 °C

and in the winter months at 5 - 10 °C. For each season, the residences and the Art Studio have air conditioners to make the stay in them pleasant.

 

• DESTINATIONS AROUND ERMIONI

Nearby destinations:

- Hydra Island. There is a daily bout connection between Ermioni and Hydra and the passenger vessel on route, Ermioni – Piraeus.

- Spetses Island. The connection between Ermioni and the Island is by sea, with the passenger vessels of the Piraeus - Spetses or by road via the port of Costa. From Costa there are boats that connect Spetses with the mainland and make the route every half hour. There are also water taxis that cover the route 24 hours a day.

- City of Nafplion. Ermioni and Nafplion are connected by buses whose main departure point is Kranidi, the town located 10km away from Ermioni. There are two routes Kranidi to Nafplion and vice versa except Saturday and Sunday. Other solution is to rent a car, where during the day the visitors has the opportunity to visit many other parts of the Argolis.

- In the surrounding area of Ermioni, in a perimeter of 12Km by road (using a bicycle), there are many beaches (Kouverta, Kounoupi, Petrothalassa etc.), the cave of the Franchthi Cave (within which there are the excavation sections of one of the most prehistoric settlements of Greece), the Katafyki canyon, with its special beauty and ideal for climbing, the worldly Porto Hydra, the so-called "Venice of the Saronic" and a multitude of small and large villages, each with its own unique beauty (Kranidi, Porto Heli, Koilada).

 

• THE MARKET OF ERMIONI

There is a complete market In Ermioni, in terms of food (Super market, restaurants, etc.) as well as a market for tools, materials, etc.

For the supply of particular materials related to art there is the possibility of ordering from the local market and receiving it within one or two days. To better organize the delivery of materials, participants can inform us of the materials they will need a few days before their arrival, paying the corresponding amount based on the purchase invoice.

 

• ABOUT FEEDING

Our guests are able to prepare their own meals in the  kitchens provided by the residences and the Art Studio. Also, in Ermioni there is large selection of restaurants and other exquisite cuisine and rich menu covering all culinary requirements.

Ermioni as a tourist area, like the surrounding area and the Saronic islands, possessing a long-standing tradition of hospitality, entertainment and culinary heritage.
